Sleeping problems or insomnia can be caused by anxiety, depression or some unresolved issue that your subconscious is struggling with. You need your sleep in order to repair and refresh and your mind needs to clear or you will not feel good the next day.
If you have things playing on your mind, they will go round and round in your head. At night, you have all the time needed to play through all sorts of imaginary disaster scenarios. If the problem comes from your subconscious, your mind will probably skirmish its way through many events seemingly at random. If you were to analyse these, you would see a recurring theme in your reaction to these events and this will also fit the underlying problem when we find it. None of this is going to help you rest or get you to sleep.

You can then see it for what it is and you can resolve it, rather than letting it be like some kind of low-level slow-motion anxiety attack.
